Research Fellow, Department of Nutrition, Harvard School of Public Health
Shilpa Bhupathiraju received her PhD in Nutritional Epidemiology from the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University in 2011. As a Research Fellow at HSPH, she has been examining the dietary and lifestyle predictors in the prevention and development of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes in the Harvard cohorts. Ms Bhupathiraju received an American Heart Association postdoctoral fellowship grant to examine the association of quantity and variety in fruit and vegetable intake in the prevention of cardiovascular disease in both the Women’s Health Initiative and the Harvard cohorts. As a research fellow, Ms Bhupathiraju explored the association between fruits and vegetable intake and cardiometabolic risk using data from the India Migration Study. She is especially interested in understanding how the nutrition transition in India is affecting rates of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes in India.
