Director, Foundation Antidoping Switzerland
Matthias Kamber is the director of the Foundation Antidoping Switzerland, the independent centre of excellence for fighting doping in Switzerland.
Mr Kamber received his PhD as well as the diploma as a high school teacher from the University of Bern, Switzerland in 1982. The topic of his thesis was the synthesis of epoxy-carotenoids. He continued his academic career as a postdoctoral fellow for two years at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He then returned to the University of Bern for one year before joining the pharmaceutical industry, i.e. Ciba-Geigy in 1985. In 1986, he became head of an analytical laboratory with the Federal Department of Defense in Switzerland and in 1987, he was nominated as head for doping prevention and research at the Swiss Federal Office of Sports in Magglingen, Switzerland.
In July 2008, Mr Kamber was appointed director of the newly established Foundation Antidoping Switzerland.
