Head Regional R&D Strategy & Intelligence, Continental Automotive
David Agnew is Head Regional R&D Strategy & Intelligence for Continental Automotive, developing strategic research partnerships and aligning Continental’s future technology strategy with regional needs and governance trends.
Prior to this role, Mr Agnew led the start up of Continental’s first regional Advanced Engineering group, located in Auburn Hills, MI. Over it’s first three years, this group developed advanced automated safety technologies in the areas of pedestrian avoidance and automated trailer backing.
Mr Agnew is currently a member of the Board of Directors for AUVSI (Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International), and is also a member of the Advisory Board for the School of Engineering & Computer Science at Oakland University in Rochester, MI.
Prior to working in the auto industry, Mr Agnew spent several years in aerospace working on advanced development of new fly-by-wire control systems. He designed and prototyped the YF-119 Raptor Tactical Fighter thrust vectoring control system while at AlliedSignal Aerospace and by-wire fuel controls for F-16 and F-18 while at Moog Inc.
Mr Agnew volunteers annually as a design judge for the Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition (igvc.org). He earned his B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
