About the project

In order to address appropriately the new ways risks develop regarding their size, spread and impact in today's interconnected world, a new approach to assess and determine adequate bundles of risk management measures is needed to address the implications of technical, natural and societal developments. This project supports the development of such an approach.

In particular, The Risk Center of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETHZ) was founded in 2011 with the support of Swiss Re and promotes an integrative view of risk assessment, in particular system and "system-of-systems" thinking. It also serves as an interface between academia, industry, and civil or governmental authorities. Its research output aims at enabling society and industry to better manage risk portfolios and to design novel solutions for collaborative risk reduction, and resilience-enhancing schemes.
