In 2021, key markets in the Middle East committed to transition to net-zero emissions. Meeting the goals will require fresh investments in processes such as carbon capture and storage among others, and also in building knowledge around new risk pools associated with renewable sources of energy. Insurers and other stakeholders will need to understand the challenges involved, both to support the transition to green energy and to prevent unforeseen losses.
