Adrian has overall responsibility for MDA’s insurance practice. He has designed and delivered programs throughout the world in the areas of insurance, accounting, financial analysis, capital and risk management and value creation. He also works extensively in the banking sector with particular interest in the fund management area.
His recent assignments include:
- Working with an insurance company’s finance department to ensure that their whole finance team were aware of relevant detailed accounting legislation so they could produce statutory accounts. This assignment led to a further project which was to work with the internal communications team to produce a published set of accounts that were more clearly laid out for the users. These accounts subsequently won a national award for clarity of presentation.
- Development and delivery of a competitor seminar for an insurance company. The course segmented the industry and analyzed the client company in relation to its competitors, looking at their current performance and the prospects for different sectors of the market.
- Designing a value creation course for senior a management team of a major insurance company. This involved working with in-house actuarial specialists to derive detailed product profitability information and present it in a value creation framework. An in-house value creation model was developed which enabled the detailed impact of different value drivers to be analyzed.
- Delivering a series of commercial awareness interventions for the high potential talent pool of a Swiss insurance company. This consisted of being available as a coach for specialist one-to-one development training as business needs arose and also running more conventional events for groups of individuals.
Prior to joining MDA, Adrian worked for Victory Reinsurance, Legal and General and Royal London Insurance. He worked in a range of roles including finance and fund management, where he managed US and Asian portfolios.
Adrian has a BA in Economics from Durham University and qualified as an ACCA winning the silver medal.
