Gillian Rutherford-Liske Head Sustainability Markets

Gillian Rutherford-Liske is Head of Sustainability of Swiss Re's Reinsurance business unit. She is a passionate environmental scientist with over 20 years' experience in scientific research and application, including a 14-year track record at Swiss Re in roles ranging from product development to risk management to strategy for global client engagement. Her main focus is bringing Swiss Re's sustainability strategy to life and to partner with clients to support resilient communities and address sustainability challenges over the long-term.

Originally from New Zealand, where she studied Plant Ecology with a focus on wetland ecosystems, she moved to Switzerland in 1998. She completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Environmental Sciences at the ETH Zürich modelling land use change in Switzerland from agriculture to forest regeneration, and has worked for Swiss Re ever since.
